Whoops. Kind of woke up super duper late this morning afternoon, as opposed to my normal wake up time of between 10 and 11am. As a result, the picks are late and abbreviated. Let’s get right into them.

All right everybody, we’re coming to you a day early this week because, well because even I’m not going to be checking this site tomorrow, so I doubt many of you will either.  But good news: I can feel it – I’m going to get a Thursday game right this week. I’ve got three to choose from, two of them have ridiculous lines. But I’m going to absolutely nail one of these games. No, I can’t tell you which one will be right. Sorry. Stop asking such silly questions. Damn, you’d think people were trying to make money off of me or something…

I don’t know why I even bother anymore with trying to pick games on Thursdays. I’m Oh-fer-the-season so far on Thursday picks. Seriously – go back and look. Ill just hang out here and wait… God, next week is going to be ugly with three games on Thursday for Thanksgiving. That’s the kind of weekly start that can really destroy my currently stellar 73-83-5 season record…

So… About that nice comeback in before Week 11’s picks… yeah, it kind of fell by the wayside after the combined 7-9 I put on the board last week. 73-83-4 on the season now, but we’re gonna have to have a little talk about those numbers…

Maybe it’s the four hours of sleep. Maybe it’s the upset stomach (and probable slight hangover). Maybe it’s the lousy weather outside. Maybe it’s the distinct lack of caffeine in my system for the last twelve hours. Maybe it’s that I’m awake before 7am without cause. But whatever is causing my bad mood, I’m sure it is at least 70% caused by the NFL game last night. If you would, please allow me a few words – after the jump, of course.

Tough to wipe the smile off my face this week. A tie atop the Two Minute Warning S & F Challenge at 11-2, a tie for third in the Pigskin Pick’Em (seriously – who the hell are R. Agnew, K. Miller and J Manahan? You guys are sick.) And then the 8-5 in the Week 10 picks here to pump the overall stats up to 66-73-4. I love when things start to fall into place. Week 10 is usually my turnaround week – let’s see just how far we can go with it, starting with this week’s early game.

Well, that was an inauspicious start to Week 10. The Cleveland Browns did Cleveland type things, allowing a major 4^th-quarter comeback for the second straight week. This time, they gave up 21 points in the 4^th to fall by four, and thus blow my initial pick of the week. Let’s see if the remaining picks are a little better.

There is no way on God’s Green Earth I’m picking the Sunday games on Wednesday night.  Nope.  Not happening.  Too many chances for injuries.  Too many chances for bar fights and suspensions.  Too many chances for me to actually try to write an entire post sober.  We’ll get Thursday’s game out of the way, then look ahead at some of the early lines and why it’s either insane or brilliant to try and bet on football this early in a week.

Ever get into a funk of mediocrity? Like, for a long time you’re just hanging on the cusp of either falling off the edge of something or turning it all around and having everything go in your favor? That’s where I’m sitting right now. It’s like I’m one of those crazy “unicycle on a tightrope while juggling flaming bowling pins or balancing plates on a stick that’s resting on my forehead” guys at the circus – I’m either going to make it through to the end and come out just fine or else fall to my doom.
